Focus on What is REAL By focusing on what is real, I mean to say that you must try to concentrate on the things around you which appear to be fine, which would be everything else except you.

You are your only counselor at that point, which is why you need to remind yourself that what you are feeling right now is temporary and that you are going to be OK! So try to ignore on what is happening and talk to yourself in a positive way. Say for example, if you get an anxiety attack in your house. You know that your heart rate has grown faster, you feel terrified, you are getting panicky, but then instead of focusing on your heartbeat or your sweating, or your fear, focus on real things around you. For instance, look at the people around you, they seem to be fine, your pet dog is still looking at you and wagging his tail,. Focusing on other things will help your mind shift from the attack which will give your body and mind a chance to relax. Use Breathing Techniques to CALM Yourself Deep breathing usually helps in calming down your panicked mind and getting your heartbeat back at a normal pace. However, you must avoid chest breathing as it can make the matter worse by increasing the numbness and dizziness in the body. Instead, try to breathe deeply using your stomach and you will feel much better.

Visit a Doctor and Get HELP As I mentioned in the Black Diamond Force beginning of the article, getting a panic attack once in a blue moon is completely normal, but if you find that you are the only one getting affected while others can't figure out why you react the way you do, probably your doctor would. So, if you really want to save yourself from these horrible anxiety attacks that are forbidding you to live a normal life, get help from someone who can 'really' help you. Now that you are aware of this condition, you would also be happy to know that you can easily get rid of anxiety attacks through treatment. There are various techniques like psychotherapy, breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, and drugs that can help you overcome these attacks. However, it is sad to know that most of the people never seek medical help, making the matter more worse. Just remember, you are not mad or mental, your mind is giving you false alarms and you need to just learn to calm it down, which is absolutely possible. Social Anxiety Disorder Social anxiety disorder or social phobia, is the most common mental disorder that can affect people of all ages. This article will tell you the reasons and possible solutions to overcome this fear. TAGGED UNDER: Social Anxiety Advertisement It is quite normal to feel anxious before making a public speech or presentation. However, there are people who easily get anxious even with the thought of making a public appearance.

Such people are said to have social phobia. People with this mental condition are scared of facing and interacting with unknown people. They think that people are constantly judging them, or, that they may create some embarrassing situation for themselves in front of others. They become so anxious that their anxiety leads to panic attacks. Causes Social anxiety disorder does not have a definitive cause, however, certain biological, psychological, and environmental factors are claimed to be responsible for it. It is said that, it is caused due to an imbalance of a neurotransmitter that sends information from one nerve cell to another in the human brain. This mental condition is also believed to be a hereditary. It can also be seen in people who have had an overprotective childhood or a deeply humiliating experience in the past. Symptoms The major symptom of this mental state is a person avoiding social situations totally. The individual starts making excuses for not attending functions, giving presentations, or meeting unknown people. The idea of attending such events becomes so scary, that it affects the individual's daily life and routine. Some physical symptoms which include shivering, muscle tension, diarrhea, excessive sweating, stammering, cold and shaky hands, no eye contact, etc., are also observed. Diagnosis and Treatment People having this problem should consult a doctor. If left untreated, it can have an adverse effect on their lives. Actually, there are no medical tests to determine if an individual suffers from this disorder.

The doctor, however, may ask the patient certain questions and conduct certain psychological tests, to gauge if he/she is affected by this mental disorder. Once the situation is diagnosed, it can be fully cured with proper treatment. The most effective treatment is cognitive-behavior therapy, along with drug therapy. The therapist, working with the individual, should motivate him/her to think in a positive way and help him/her to face real life situations. Antidepressants are sometimes given to the patient to control the physical symptoms. The individual may also have to attend counseling sessions, where the counselor helps in boosting the self-esteem of the patient. Social anxiety is a serious problem. A person diagnosed with it could be avoided by others around him for being a loser. The resulting loneliness may lead the individual to the ways of alcohol or drug addiction. If a friend or family member is suffering from it, you should try your best to support and help him/her out. You should try to make them understand that even though life is full of challenges, it is beautiful and worth living! 40 Weeks Pregnant and No Signs of Labor Your body starts preparing for labor at least a month before your due date. However, what induces labor and why is it different (in terms of duration) for expecting mothers, is a question not yet answered. TAGGED UNDER: Pregnancy Advertisement According to the doctors, post-term births are more likely due to irregular menstrual cycles. Also, since the due date is calculated on the basis of ultrasound scan, there are less likely chances of miscalculation and this possibility can be safely ruled out. Although, generally speaking, the third trimester is from 37 to 42 weeks, and a pregnancy is not considered overdue until after 42 weeks.

So, the only possibility is that your little stubborn baby is simply taking his/her own sweet time. Your Baby - at 40 Weeks At officially full-term, your baby weighs around seven and a half pounds and measures 19-22 inches. Your baby can be smaller but equally and perfectly healthy. He/she is completely developed and his/her hair and nails are growing everyday. The skull bones haven't fused together so that they can overlap and assist in coming through the birth canal, during the labor. Your baby is preparing to adjust with the outside world. He/she can search for the thumb and also suck it. The immune system of your baby is also strengthening. You - at 40 Weeks You are irritated by all the questions your friends and family are asking you, anxious because of the delay, and irritated waiting for "the day" to finally arrive. And with no contraction at 40 weeks pregnancy, you have the liberty to be slightly stressed. But, you need to understand that even if you and your baby are ready, your body might just need that extra week. So, you need to relax and consult your doctor. Signs of Labor As there is no knowledge of what might trigger labor, there are few signs that you can observe. Nesting: You may find the sudden urge to clean your house and also end up doing so. It is Mother Nature's way of telling that you are ready to bring your baby to a clean house. Also, once the baby is delivered, you may not have time to clean your house and baby-proof it. House-work is a good exercise and can induce labor.

Dropping or Lightening: A few weeks before labor, you may have less heartburn. But, you may also feel more pressure in your pelvic area. You may notice some swelling in your legs and your abdomen will look lowered. This is caused due to 'lightening' or 'dropping', that is, your baby settling down nearer to the cervix. It releases pressure from your diaphragm and you can breathe easily and eat more. In case this is not your first baby, dropping may occur just before labor. Braxton Hicks Contraction: A cramped, menstrual like feeling, along with intense contractions, are often signs of pre-labor.
